On 30 August, 2019, a graduate student of Shanghai Customs College, Miss. Lin Lianqing, completed her nearly two-month internship in the World Customs Organization Asia Pacific Regional Office for Capacity Building (WCO ROCB A/P), Bangkok, Thailand. Mr. Norikazu KURAMOTO, the Head of the ROCB A/P has issued an internship certificate to Miss Lin.
The ROCB A/P is aimed to assist building capacity of member customs administrations to continuously improve securing and facilitating trade. This internship project is an important measure for our college to successfully apply for the “First-class Graduate Education Leading Plan of Shanghai University” and to cooperate with that office. Miss. Lin Lianqing, as the first selected candidate, had a cherish opportunity to work for a world organization. This experience not only improved her abilities, but also broadened her horizons.
Her understanding of office and customs functions also has been deepened in the process of visiting United Nations partners. On 21 August 2019, Mr. Norikazu KURAMOTO, the Head of the ROCB A/P, with his colleagues paid a courtesy call on the UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific) and the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme), at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand. She was lucky to visit with the team. This experience made her more aware of the role of WCO cooperating with other partners in many fields, such as improving trade
In addition, she also contributed to the website of the ROCB A/P. Two news releases written by her have already been updated on the website. Above all, during her internship, she completed a study on customs practices about cross-border e-commerce in the Asia-Pacific region and presented her research to her colleagues in the office.
This summer internship in the ROCB A/P for herself is a challenging but colorful experience. Besides strengthening abilities, she has also got deep friendships with colleagues. The internship in the world organization is of significant importance for student future development, and is also an effective measure for international education of our college.
